Typography for entrepreneurs

A one-hour masterclass that took place during a weekend of events celebrating the London launch of the new BumbleBizz app. Guests were guided through activities using materials styled to compliment the BumbleBizz visual theme, and featuring the typography from the brand.

On arrival guests were welcomed with introductory games including the typographic coffee predictor which proved popular. They then got creative exploring alternative ways to create social media posts using collage. An exercise profiling the personalities of a selection of typefaces led to a discussion about the fonts to use on a CV.

Participants were invited to identify the brand positioning and target audiences of a selection of products on shelves, discussing how this might relate to their own business branding. This led onto the 'Price is Right' game and a discussion about authenticity, trust and context, and what happens when anticipation and experience are incongruent.

The session ended with a Prosecco tasting, which demonstrated the multisensory properties of typography and design.
