Experiments with type perception

Ideal for a design and communications audience

This is a talk with audience participation and humour in which Sarah talks about six years of experimenting with type and all the senses, and her exploration of typefaces as cultural codes. She talks about her process, the surprises that her research has revealed, co-publishing with Professor Charles Spence of Oxford University, and how the ‘failed’ experiments have led to the greatest insights.

“Sarah is a fantastic speaker – she engages audiences with a brilliant mix of warmth, good humour and real insight into her subject matter – in which she is expert. She quickly warmed up a noisy crowd and had them eating out of her hand, everyone taking part (almost unheard of) and I only heard good things about her talk afterwards.” Luke Tonge, Glug curator
